2015 Rogers Oktoberfest Women of the Year Award winners

The Rogers Oktoberfest Women of the Year Awards were handed out on Thursday night.

Women’s Crisis Services of Waterloo Region won in the group achievement category. Pat Singleton with the Cambridge Self Help Food Bank was honoured in the professional category. The health and wellness award was given to Debby Riepert.

Community effort: Knollwood facelift nearly finished

(Jean) Markovich, vice-president of the Auditorium Neighbourhood Association, and her five-year-old pooch are no longer pushed to the sidewalk fringes... A new path, lined by 49 new trees, meanders through the middle of Knollwood, carrying dogs and owners to the outer edges and extended playgrounds.

The new Knollwood is no longer clogged. The old corner ball diamond is gone. A new diamond now faces away from the soccer pitch, where midfielders were often wary of homers flying over right field and into the football match
