Help us Bridge the Gap GoFundMe

We did it! You helped us bridge the gap!

For 23 years, Leadership Waterloo Region has built vibrant, resilient and inclusive communities. We do this by encouraging, empowering and equipping current and future leaders to unleash positive change in their communities. In short, we are in the “people” business. We bring folks together to learn from one another and give them the knowledge, tools and confidence to go out into their community and make a difference. We already have over 515 graduates out being agents of change, and hope to continue our work

We needed your help and you stepped up in a big way! Thank you!

When we launched our GoFundMe campaign on February 22nd, it was with the purpose of bridging a funding gap, and we truly didn't know what to expect. We knew of the power of our network and the passion of our alumni, but we never dreamed of reaching our goal in only 8 days, but we shattered it!

Thanks to everyone who has supported the campaign with your generous gifts and by sharing it with your networks. Every bit of support made a difference in getting us to reach our goal and we appreciate you!

March 2nd Update: Here's what's happened over the last 8 days...

Donations came in from across the community. People were sharing it with their networks and we quickly fundraised over $4000. Since then, we have been in conversation with the Region of Waterloo and we were pleased to learn that we would be soon receiving our annual grant in the amount of $40,000.  The Region has supported Leadership Waterloo Region annually for many years, dating back to 2012 and we are grateful for their continued support.

In addition to the Region’s contribution, the Waterloo Region Community Foundation will be topping up the campaign with an additional $10,000 to push us over our campaign target. Combined with the outpouring of support from the community, we have now exceeded the campaign goal and will be officially closing down the GoFundMe later today.

We are so grateful to the staff and Council at the Region as well as the team at the Waterloo Region Community Foundation for their support at this critical juncture for Leadership Waterloo Region. We are proud of our long-standing relationships with our partners, and even more humbled by the generosity of our alumni and community members who stepped up to support us.

What does the future hold for LWR?

The Board and staff will be meeting early next week to regroup and make plans.
