Leadership comes naturally to me and I even see it developing in my young daughter. Understanding where you came from and who you are as a person lead you on an amazing journey and if you are living your true self, you bring powerful people on your journey with you. I have been blessed by my family, coaches, teachers, colleagues, and friends who have demonstrated strong leadership skills along the way. I can only hope I am able to share the learnings with my daughter and pass on the passion for community building that I possess.
Leadership Waterloo Region has a long standing record of bringing people together from so many areas of the community and providing opportunities we may not have had on our own. Each person involved is incredible, whether it’s because of their personal, professional, volunteer, or other experience, they contribute and strengthen this community exponentially.
The most powerful leadership day for me was Peer Coaching and Mentoring. Learning how connected people are within the community and how willing they are to assist when able gives me a stronger sense of pride in the Region of Waterloo. Funding is scarce at times, but we are so rich in people! To have a network to call on is encouraging and no feat is too big when you know someone out there shares your vision and wants to join in the journey. Each Leadership Day encourages you to expand your horizon, refocus your lens, adjust your perspective. However you say it, it means the same thing. You grow, you create, you bond, you foster, and you change. And hopefully at the end of it all you give back and pass the torch to the next generation.
