The COVID-19 pandemic has changed the way we do business. We didn’t ask for this. Not for sickness, not for social distancing, not for the additional stress. Not for the sudden halt of our collective lives together in our offices, or with our program participants, volunteers, donors and community. No matter whether you work in the for-profit, public service or social profit sectors, we each must respond and adapt to the changes that are occurring all around us.
“When we are no longer able to change a situation, we are challenged to change ourselves.” – Victor E. Frankl.
The challenge arises, in that change is and has always been something through which some flourish, and some flounder. During this time, more than ever, we as non-profit leaders need to connect, share our resources and support one another so that there are no services and organizations left behind.
As a part of our response to COVID-19, Leadership Waterloo Region is working with local leadership facilitators to offer a series of free learning sessions to target the “hot topics” that local non-profit leaders are facing.
We have a great line-up of sessions coming up over the next few weeks. Registration for these sessions will open soon! We are going to keep hosting sessions for as long as the sector needs us, so keep checking back here for details or follow us on social media for updates on when new registrations open!

Whatever your situation, WHAT you do may change though your WHY can always remain clear and constant. During these uncertain times, many of us may be forced to reinvent ourselves, reinvent WHAT we do as individuals and organizations. It can be unsettling and challenging. We believe the best way to move forward starts with your purpose – your WHY – and embracing an infinite mindset provides a calm confidence to help. We are all unwitting players in infinite games; games in which there is no end. There are no winners or losers in infinite games, there is only ahead and behind. Relationships, governance, education, healthcare and business are all examples of infinite games, yet too many leaders play these games as if they can be won. “Be number one,” “be the best,” or “beat the competition” are all typical phrases that we use to motivate our teams. Of course, every organization has finite goals and metrics that show we are making progress, but to what end? Those leaders and organizations who adopt an infinite mindset are the ones who lead the rest of us into the future. In this session we will:
**Please note: all registrants are asked to view Simon Sinek's "pre-watch" videos on the Infinite Game before attending the session. A link to these videos will be shared with the registration confirmation and again in advance of the session! |
