Leadership Waterloo Region Class of 2009

There were many reasons that the Core Program at Leadership Waterloo Region attracted me: I believe that leadership is a critical skill, but my recent work role had changed and I had always wanted to be more invested in my Community. I wanted to understand how public, private and not-for-profit companies collaborated in Waterloo Region, and where I may be able to leverage my own skills.

Through the Core Program I learned more about myself and my leadership style. These learnings were not only applicable to my work life, but my personal life. With a cross section of public, private and not-for-profit groups on the Program, both my wife and I have been able to make strong decisions on where to invest ourselves in our community. I was exposed to so many great individuals; my classmates, the presenters and charities, the contacts have been truly valuable far after the Program ended.

The Core Program provides a truly valuable combination of leadership and personal/community awareness and I recommend the Core Program to anyone who demonstrates the want to be a better leader within their community.
