Waterloo Region Police Chief honoured with Paul Harris Fellowship for contribution to the community

WATERLOO, ONTARIO (January 29, 2017) — Leadership Waterloo Region, in partnership with the Rotary Club of Kitchener Conestoga, announced Chief Bryan Larkin as recipient of Rotary’s Paul Harris Fellowship recognition. This is the first time an alumnus of Leadership Waterloo Region, a local social profit organization which develops local community leaders, receives the recognition.

Chief Bryan Larkin is a graduate of Leadership Waterloo Region’s 2004 core program and was nominated for his commitment to building a vibrant and safe Waterloo Region for all residents. In addition to serving on numerous policing committees and foundations, Chief Larkin supports many local organizations, and was recently invested as a Member of the Order of Merit for the Police Forces, by His Excellency, the Right Honourable David Johnston.

The award was presented to Chief Larkin by the President of the Rotary Club of Kitchener Conestoga, Mark Walters, at Leadership Waterloo Region’s 14th Annual Fire & Ice Gala on January 28th at Bingemans.

The Paul Harris Fellow was started in recognition of Paul Harris who founded Rotary International in 1905. Rotary Clubs have awarded the Paul Harris Fellow for many decades in recognition of outstanding commitment to the community.

“Just like Paul Harris knew the importance of outstanding community commitment, Chief Larkin was selected from among several nominees for his continued commitment to making the Waterloo Region better,” said David Graham, Rotary Club of Kitchener Conestoga.

“As a fellow graduate of Leadership Waterloo Region’s core program, I congratulate Chief Larkin for receiving the Paul Harris Fellow for his community leadership and service. He is a deserving recipient and we couldn’t be more pleased,” stated Tony Denison, 2017 Fire & Ice Gala Chair.
